Dorothy's Cabin

Dorothy is a dear friend and a watercolor artist. We visited her in Maine at her summer cabin last summer. I took a photo of the cabin, which she designed and built herself, with the help of numerous friends, with the intention of painting it. Today I was finally inspired! Her birthday is next month and I'll give it to her then but I showed it to her today when it was barely dry because I couldn't wait.

Very nice job on the cabin. Your friend ought to be very happy with your rendition.

As I said on the WcW group message, I am especially fond of the iris painting in this trio. I think that when we allow ourselves to just splash paint that it allows the painterly side of our brain to be in control and silences the intelligent side for a bit, allowing more creative efforts. I am always surprised at what I get when I allow that to happen. Doesn't happen often, but when it does it is always a nice surprise. My Color Bouquet is a case in point. I was just messing around, like you say splashing paint, and it appears to have drawn more positive comments than any I have done for quite awhile, even appearing on the homepage of the Watercolor Workshop! So, let your creative, splashy side play more often, the results are so good.
