Boats accumulate all manner of stuff on the part of their hulls that are under water which has to be scraped off periodically. I caught the light on this man just right, I think.
I think you did, indeed, catch the light just right. The contrast between the shady underside of the boat and where the light hits the man is just great. I like this a lot and can see why you wanted to paint this scene. Light vs dark will always get me interested.
